Covid 19 Precautionary Measures

East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue (EHVOR) is working with the Town and Village Lifeguard Agencies

to revise rescue techniques to protect both the victim and rescuer. Our dedicated team will continue to train

and utilize these techniques throughout the pandemic.

We are working with the Police and Fire Departments to adapt new protocols when contacting and

treating medical aids. We are aware of the new United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) precautions

regarding Covid-19. We will provide masks to all our rescuers and have directed them to wear face coverings

when making public contact.  We are committed and will continue to stay informed as new information becomes available.

We will remain on-call to protect all East Hampton Ocean Beaches!

EAST HAMPTON VOLUNTEER OCEAN RESCUE

ALWAYS ON CALL!

East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue (EHVOR) has been responding to water emergencies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, since 2003.  Our volunteer organization is the only one of its kind.  We safeguard thousands of swimmers each year in Open Water Swims and Triathlons in the Town of East Hampton.  Many of these are charitable events that benefit cancer research, Fighting Chance, Surfers Healing and Paddle for Pink.

Our mission is to make expedient and safe water rescues year-round at all unprotected beaches in East Hampton Town. Each month, we train in different locations coordinating with multiple Emergency Agencies, to be prepared for any water emergency from Wainscot to Montauk.

Our members promote water safety and education by assisting Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA) in drown-proofing the East End.  EHVOR assists with training and testing all lifeguards on the East End.   We also train junior lifeguards, and the ages range from 9 to 14.  EHVOR conducts a Nanny Program to educate nannies in water safety, especially for the summer months. We run educational press releases for Beach Safety Week on the dangers of rip currents and we are installing Rip Current signs at all the town’s ocean beach access points.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE OCEAN!
