MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

RESCUE SWIMMER
​Class A Member
-
At least 18 years old
-
Year-round, full-time resident of the township of East Hampton, or must work in the Town of East Hampton.
-
Hold a current ocean Lifeguard Surf Level I Open Water Certification accredited by Suffolk County Department of Health Services or New York State
-
Renew CPR/BLS certification annually, accredited by Red Cross or American Heart by Memorial Day
-
Attend at least 40% of general monthly meetings, 40% of primary events, 30% of multi-agency drills and respond to 10% of rescue calls
-
Complete the National Incident Management System (NIMS)100, 200, 700 (online FEMA classes) within 3 months of being accepted into EHVOR
-
Complete online Risk Management and Compliance classes (RMCs) by Memorial Day annually

SEASONAL RESCUE SWIMMER
​Season is from Memorial Day through September 30
​
-
Must apply by May 1
-
18 years old by June 1
-
Seasonal resident of the township of East Hampton
-
Hold a current ocean Lifeguard Surf Level I Open Water Certification accredited by Suffolk County Department of Health Services or New York State
-
Actively employed under the unified command of East Hampton Town, East Hampton Village, or New York State as a certified ocean lifeguard
-
Train regularly with lifeguard employing agency

Renew CPR/BLS certification annually, accredited by Red Cross or American Heart by June 1
-
Attend at least 1 general monthly meeting during Season, 2 primary events, 1 multi-agency. drill and respond to10% of Rescue calls
-
Complete the National Incident Management Systems (NIMS)100, 200, and 700 (online FEMA classes) by June 1
-
Complete online Risk Management and Compliance classes (RMCs) by June 1 annually

STILLWATER RESCUE SWIMMER
Not permitted to respond to rescue calls, permitted to lifeguard at bay events only

At least 18 years old
-
Year-round, full-time resident of the township of East Hampton, or must work in the Town of East Hampton.

Hold a current Still Water Lifeguard certification accredited by Suffolk County Department of Health Services or New York State
-
Renew CPR/BLS certification annually accredited by Red Cross or American Heart by Memorial Day
-
Attend at least 40% of general monthly meetings & 40% of primary events
-
Complete the National Incident Management System (NIMS)100, 200, 700 (online FEMA classes) within 3 months of being accepted into EHVOR
-
Complete online Risk Management and Compliance classes (RMCs) by Memorial Day annually

AUXILIARY MEMBER
Non-lifeguard position: not permitted to respond to rescue calls

​At least 18 years old
-
Year-round, full-time resident of the township of East Hampton, or must work in the Town of East Hampton.

Willing to assist rescue swimmers at events via land and perform other duties including administrative, fundraising, PR, and/or water safety education
-
Renew CPR/BLS certification annually accredited by Red Cross or American Heart by Memorial Day
-
At least 40% of general monthly meetings and 40% of primary events

Complete the National Incident Management System (NIMS)100, 200, 700 (online FEMA classes) within 3 months of being accepted into EHVOR
-
Complete online Risk Management and Compliance classes (RMCs) by Memorial Day annually
